OBJECTIVEThis study compared two newborns Cytomegalovirus (CMV) antibody IgG ELISA screening kits and evaluate the effectiveness of detection of IgG antibodies kit.METHODSCMV Abnova detected by both SeraQuest and Abnova kit from dried blood spot (DBS) samples from 488 newborn heel stick.
These two kits detection capability than the concentration of different sample dilution. effectiveness relative detection of the kit Abnova defined by a statistical method using the kit SeraQuest as comparison.RESULTSCompared point to SeraQuest screening test kit, kit Abnova express sensitivity 98.9%, specificity 78.6%, positive predictive value 99.3%, negative predictive value of 68.8%, and the level of coincidence for two assay screening at 98.3%. Consistency check of the kit is based on the statistical interpretation relatively good kappa.
For Abnova kit, “the area under the ROC curve” is 0.887, which indicates a moderate accuracy.CONCLUSIONSAbnova kit can be applied for screening newborns for congenital CMV infection. However, repeating the test for ambiguous results suggested to increase the specificity and negative predictive value.

Description: CYP1A2 encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. The protein encoded by this gene localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and its expression is induced by some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), some of which are found in cigarette smoke. The enzyme's endogenous substrate is unknown; however, it is able to metabolize some PAHs to carcinogenic intermediates. Other xenobiotic substrates for this enzyme include caffeine, aflatoxin B1, and acetaminophen. The transcript from this gene contains four Alu sequences flanked by direct repeats in the 3' untranslated region. |
